Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 June 2026
This policy explains what personal data RustVision collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the rights you have under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. RustVision is a hosted Discord bot that connects to Rust game servers through the Rust+ companion API.
1. Who we are
RustVision is the data controller for the personal data described below. You can contact us about privacy at help@rustvision.vip.
2. Data we collect
- Discord account data: your Discord user ID, username and avatar, provided through Discord OAuth when you sign in.
- Discord server (guild) data: the guild ID and name of servers where you add and manage the bot.
- Rust+ connection data: your server IP, port and the Rust+ pairing token needed to maintain the connection. The token is encrypted at rest and is never displayed back to you or shared.
- Steam IDs: collected only when you request a player lookup or add a player to a watchlist. Used to query public Steam, VAC and BattleMetrics data.
- Billing data: subscription status and customer references. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Operational logs: limited technical logs (timestamps, command usage, errors) used to run and debug the service.
3. Why we use it (lawful bases)
- Performance of a contract: to provide the bot, connect to your server and manage your subscription.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure, prevent abuse and improve reliability.
- Consent: for optional features such as player lookups and watchlists, which you trigger yourself.
4. How long we keep it
We keep account, guild and connection data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel and do not return, this data is deleted after a short grace period (typically 30 days). Billing records are retained as long as required by law. Operational logs are kept for a limited period and then rotated.
5. Sharing your data
We do not sell your data. We share data only with processors needed to run the service: Discord (authentication), Stripe (payments), Supabase (database and hosting), and public game-data sources you query (Steam, BattleMetrics). Each processes data on our behalf under their own terms.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent for optional features at any time.
To exercise any of these, email help@rustvision.vip. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
7. Security
Rust+ tokens are encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is restricted, and we use reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.
8. International transfers
Some processors may store or process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
